    Service Engineer I
    Location: Lake County, IL
    Job Type: Full-Time

    About the Role

    A global leader in drive and control technologies is seeking a motivated Service Engineer I to join a dynamic team specializing in hydraulic cartridge valves and electro-hydraulic control solutions for mobile and industrial equipment. With over three decades of innovation, this organization is committed to delivering high-performance components that support efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction across more than 30 industries.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain strong communication and relationships with customers through regular calls and updates
    • Ensure timely and complete responses to Return Material Authorization (RMA) requests
    • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including production engineers, supply chain, quality assurance, and finance
    • Prioritize customer claims to ensure timely resolution and satisfaction
    • Visit customer production sites periodically to address issues with manufacturing and engineering teams
    • Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to resolve recurring production problems
    • Assist in harmonizing warranty and service processes
    • Act as a liaison between quality teams and customers to resolve quality-related concerns

    Physical Requirements

    • Frequent sitting and standing
    • Ability to lift 10-25 lbs as needed

    Travel Requirements

    • Occasional travel every 2-3 months to customer sites

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
    • 0-3 years of experience with a completed bachelors degree
    • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and quality tools
    • Familiarity with Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety policies
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MRP systems, and quality control software
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
