Summary

The Parts Counter Clerk supports the daily parts needs of CMI’s heavy equipment dealership. This position researches and identifies parts for service technicians and customers, prepares quotes, orders parts as needed, and accurately posts parts to service work orders. The Parts Counter Clerk works closely with the Service, Parts, and Warehouse departments to help ensure the correct parts are available when needed, urgent requests are handled promptly, and customers receive knowledgeable and professional service.

Essential Functions

1. Maintain a safe workplace as the highest priority.
2. Prepare and process customer quotes and orders accurately and promptly.
3. Process emergency orders immediately upon receipt.
4. Answer and respond to telephone calls promptly, professionally, and efficiently.
5. Provide responsive and accurate service to support customer satisfaction.
6. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the service parts area.
7. Work with warehouse personnel to ensure freight charges are accurately billed to customers.
8. Assist with parts returns, stock orders, warranty claims, and core returns as needed.
9. Ensure parts not used on service jobs are returned within vendor-required timeframes.
10. Assist with shipping and receiving duties as needed.
11. Process parts orders from the priority board and shop, giving service department requests priority for parts research and ordering.
12. Pull and stage parts for scheduled service jobs.
13. Participate in vendor training and other CMI-sponsored education programs.
14. Assist with the annual physical inventory.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

1. High School Diploma
2. Two years of experience with automotive or construction and mining parts sales a plus.
3. Experience with parts lookup and sales a must.

Physical Requirements

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some standing, bending, walking and lifting up to 25lbs will occasionally be required.

Schedule: 

• 8-hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Occasional Saturday
