Service Technician

We are seeking an autonomous, experienced Commercial HVAC Field Service Technician to join our team in the Albany, NY area. In this role, you will focus primarily on field equipment start-ups, system commissioning, controls, and troubleshooting high-end commercial HVAC units. You will operate independently across assigned customer sites, serving as the technical expert representing top-tier manufacturing lines.

Job Duties:

• Perform field-level commissioning, start-ups, diagnostic inspections, and technical troubleshooting on high-end commercial HVAC systems.
• Work extensively with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and building/equipment controls, specifically ABB drives and ClimateMaster units.
• Conduct service and maintenance on commercial equipment, including rooftop units (RTUs), roof exhaust fans, cook fans, and heat pumps.
• Interpret technical schematics, control diagrams, and manufacturer specifications to diagnose complex mechanical and control issues.
• Travel directly to commercial customer sites (hospitals, universities, K-12, commercial facilities) within the Albany territory.
• Provide professional customer service and technical guidance to facility technicians, contractors, and building management.
• Log service activity, equipment updates, and work orders efficiently using field service software (Simpro).

Job Requirements:

• 3+ years of commercial HVAC service technician experience, with proven expertise in commercial start-ups and control diagnostics.
• Strong hands-on proficiency with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Proven background working with commercial rooftop units (RTUs), heat pumps, exhaust fans, and basic control logic/components.
• Ability to work fully autonomously in the field.
• Experience with refrigeration circuitry and heat pumps is a strong plus.
