Service Technician

Position Overview:
This position will require you to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide variety of heavy construction equipment, including excavators, track loaders, tracked mulchers, skid steers, chippers, grinders and other diesel-powered machinery. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to minimize equipment downtime and keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems on heavy construction equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, and part replacement.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Operate diagnostic tools and software for equipment troubleshooting.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Communicate equipment status and repair recommendations with supervisors and operators.
- Assist with field repairs and service calls as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must have your own tools – (Mandatory tools) 1/4 ”, 3/8” and 1/2” drive sets, wrench sets (1/4” - 2”, 8mm – 24mm), electrical troubleshoot tools, hammers, pry bars, basic pliers and screwdriver sets.
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or trade school certification preferred).
- Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Basic computer skills for service reports and parts lookup.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working on the brands of equipment we carry or similar machines.
- Welding and fabrication skills a plus.
- Electrical trouble shooting experience
