 Service Writer
Canfield, Ohio — Direct Hire

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented  Service Writer to join our team in Canfield, Ohio. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with technical aptitude and excellent communication skills to play a vital role in supporting power generation equipment services.

In this role, you will act as the key link between clients, technicians, and parts departments. You will process repair scopes, build accurate quotes, schedule service appointments, manage manufacturer warranties, and finalize billing for generator and power equipment services. Hours:
07:00 AM – 03:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Pay:
$0.00 – $49,280.00 per year (dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet customers and understand generator issues, logging customer and equipment profiles.
  • Clearly communicate service costs, downtime expectations, and repair recommendations in non-technical language.
  • Convert technician feedback into detailed, accurate repair quotes, including parts, labor, and materials.
  • Collaborate with the parts department to source components, confirm lead times, and ensure equipment is ready for technician dispatch.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and emergency service scheduling, assigning technicians based on urgency and skill.
  • Administer warranty claims with manufacturers such as Generac and Cummins, handling all paperwork and reconciliation.
  • Review completed work orders and ensure accurate documentation for smooth invoicing and job closure.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 2-5 years of experience in power generation, heavy equipment, automotive repair, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems (diesel engines) and electrical devices (transfer switches, paralleling systems) preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and ERP/service management software (e.g., NetSuite, FieldServio).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize tasks efficiently and resolve conflicts effectively.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with generator repair, power systems, or technical service writing.
  • Familiarity with manufacturer warranty processes and software.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary technical training preferred.
  • Experience in customer service and technical documentation.

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to attend overnight manufacturer training classes when necessary.
  • Comfortable working on-site at customer locations and driving company vehicles.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
