We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow CMDB Specialist to support a critical 6-month project focused on managing, optimizing, and maintaining the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the ServiceNow platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in ServiceNow Discovery, CMDB & CSDM, ITSM processes, infrastructure environments, and scripting/automation. This role will work closely with infrastructure operations, platform owners, and cross-functional IT teams to ensure accurate and reliable configuration data across enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

CMDB Management

  • Configure, maintain, and optimize the ServiceNow CMDB to ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Develop and enforce CMDB policies, standards, business rules, and procedures
  • Perform audits, reconciliation, and data validation activities
  • Maintain CMDB Health Dashboards and improve data quality processes

ServiceNow Discovery

  • Configure discovery schedules, probes, sensors, MID Servers, and credentials
  • Manage discovery patterns and develop new patterns when required
  • Recommend and reconcile best-fit discovery and data integration sources

CMDB & CSDM

  • Manage CI classes, relationships, and data models within the CMDB
  • Support alignment with Common Services Data Model (CSDM)
  • Develop automated processes to retire stale CMDB records and relationships

Infrastructure & Systems Support

  • Support discovery and CMDB processes across Windows and Linux environments
  • Work with core infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and service accounts
  • Apply knowledge of networking fundamentals including IP addressing, ports, protocols, and firewalls

Automation & Scripting

  • Utilize PowerShell, JavaScript, or Python to automate processes and enhance platform functionality

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Partner with IT teams, stakeholders, and vendors to support CMDB initiatives
  • Create dashboards, reports, and analytics related to CMDB health and performance
  • Provide guidance and best practices around CMDB governance and operations

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Experience

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB
  • Strong understanding of ITSM processes including Incident, Problem, Change, CMDB, and Asset Management
  • Experience with ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and integrations

Technical Skills

  • ServiceNow Discovery, MID Server configuration, probes, sensors, and discovery patterns
  • CMDB architecture and CSDM alignment
  • Networking fundamentals (IP addressing, protocols, firewalls, ports)
  • Windows/Linux administration and infrastructure services
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, JavaScript, or Python
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Certifications

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) – Required
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Data Foundations (Preferred)
