Sr. ServiceNow Developer

Work Location & Hybrid Expectations

• Location: Central New Jersey
• Schedule: Hybrid schedule requiring 3 days per week onsite for team collaboration, architectural whiteboarding, and stakeholder reviews.

We are seeking an experienced Senior ServiceNow Developer with deep technical expertise in both IT Service Management (ITSM) and IT Operations Management (ITOM) suites.

In this role, you will work and help to lead the implementation, customization, and enhancement of our enterprise ServiceNow platform. You will serve as a hands on senior technical developer bridging operational workflows with automated IT operations, optimizing our CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping, and Event Management systems.

ITSM & ITOM Platform Development

• Solution Architecture: Design, build, and deploy custom ServiceNow solutions using Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, UI Actions, Flow Designer, and Workflow Editor.
• ITOM Implementation: Configure and maintain ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, and Operational Intelligence.
• CMDB Health: Maintain and optimize the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring accuracy, deduplication, and adherence to the Common Service Data Model (CSDM 4.0).
• Integrations: Architect and maintain bidirectional integrations between ServiceNow and third-party monitoring/management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Splunk, Datadog, Jira, Azure DevOps, PagerDuty) using Integration Hub, REST/SOAP APIs, and MID Servers.

Automation & Operational Excellence

• Orchestration: Build automated remediation workflows using Flow Designer and Integration Hub spokes to reduce MTTR (Mean Time to Resolution).
• Platform Governance: Manage Update Sets, Application Scope, and Instance Upgrades across DEV, TEST, and PROD environments following strict Change Management practices.
• Collaboration & Leadership: Partner with infrastructure, security, and service desk teams to translate complex enterprise requirements into scalable technical designs.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 7+ years of hands-on software development experience, with a minimum of 5+ years dedicated to ServiceNow development.
• Core Technical Competencies:
  • Advanced proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), GlideScript, HTML/CSS, AngularJS, and XML/JSON.
  • Hands-on mastery of ServiceNow Discovery patterns, Service Mapping rules, Event Management alert binding, and CMDB health metrics.
  • Strong mastery of relational database structures and SQL.
• Frameworks: Strong understanding of ITIL v3/v4 frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience migrating legacy systems to ServiceNow ITOM/ITSM.
• Hands-on knowledge of cloud discovery across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and GCP.
• Experience with containerized application mapping (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
