ServiceNow Developer

Overview:

The ServiceNow Developer will help lead the design, development, and optimization of the ServiceNow platform, delivering scalable, secure, and compliant solutions that support enterprise IT and business operations. This role combines advanced hands-on development with technical leadership responsibilities, ensuring platform stability, data integrity, and alignment with organizational priorities, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The Senior ServiceNow Developer serves as a subject matter expert, providing architectural guidance, mentoring team members, and overseeing work delivered by internal staff and external ServiceNow consulting partners.

Responsibilities:

• Lead development, configuration, and support of the ServiceNow platform across core modules, including ITSM, CMDB, Asset Management, ITOM, Discovery, and Employee Center
• Design and implement scalable solutions, including custom applications, workflows, integrations, and advanced scripting using JavaScript and Glide APIs
• Ensure platform performance, availability, and scalability through proactive monitoring, optimization, and issue resolution
• Maintain CMDB and Asset Management data quality by enforcing data governance standards, reconciliation processes, and compliance controls
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT leadership to gather requirements, define technical solutions, and deliver business-aligned outcomes
• Provide technical oversight and code review for internal developers and external ServiceNow consulting partners (staff augmentation resources) to ensure adherence to development and security standards
• Establish and enforce best practices for ServiceNow development, testing, deployment, and change management in alignment with SDLC standards
• Lead platform upgrades, patching, and release management activities to maintain system currency, security, and functionality
• Develop and maintain integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, Integration Hub, and third-party systems
• Analyze system performance, usage metrics, and trends to support reporting, continuous improvement, and audit readiness
• Mentor junior developers and administrators by providing technical guidance, knowledge transfer, and development support
• Support audit, risk, and compliance activities by maintaining documentation, validating controls, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements
• Associates are expected to perform all additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years progressive experience in ServiceNow development and administration.
• Strong experience configuring and supporting core ServiceNow modules (e.g., ITSM, CMDB, ITOM, Asset Management)
• Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, Glide APIs, and ServiceNow scripting frameworks
• Experience designing and implementing integrations using REST/SOAP APIs and Integration Hub
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and provide oversight to internal and external development resources
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) preferred
• ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) preferred
• ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in ITSM, CMDB, or related modules preferred
• Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., financial services, SOX-regulated organizations) preferred
• Background in infrastructure, cybersecurity, or enterprise IT operations preferred

 

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:  Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse requiring hand and wrist manipulation, while viewing computer screens.
