Job Description

Position Summary

The Services Electronics Technician diagnoses, repairs, tests, and validates electronic products used in renewable energy and industrial motion-control applications. This role supports service-center operations through component-level troubleshooting, accurate service documentation, spare-parts control, customer technical support, and occasional field service. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on electronics capability with a disciplined commitment to safety, quality, responsiveness, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

· Receive, identify, and process incoming electronic devices using barcode, serial-number, and customer asset-tracking information.

· Perform diagnostic testing, fault isolation, and root-cause analysis on printed circuit board assemblies, controllers, embedded systems, and related electronic products.

· Troubleshoot and repair equipment at board and component level, including surface-mount (SMT/SMD) and through-hole components.

· Read and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, assembly drawings, and product service instructions.

· Use electronic test equipment, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, bench power supplies, and applicable communication or network diagnostic tools.

· Complete functional testing and validation to verify that repaired products meet defined safety, quality, and performance requirements.

· Document failure analysis, repairs, parts usage, test results, and disposition decisions in service and quality systems.

· Prepare repair recommendations, technical findings, and service quotation inputs for customer review.

· Support service-level commitments for safety, quality, turnaround time, responsiveness, and on-time return of repaired units.

· Prepare repaired products and associated documentation for shipment back to customers.

· Maintain accurate inventory of spare parts, replacement units, repair materials, and consumables; initiate replenishment requests when needed.

· Provide troubleshooting support to customers, field personnel, and technicians at other service centers.

· Participate in customer and internal meetings concerning RMA status, repair planning, recurring failures, and corrective actions.

· Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain to address product issues and improve service processes and product reliability.

· Travel periodically to customer sites and solar photovoltaic installations to diagnose, repair, upgrade, commission, or rework equipment.

· Follow all company, customer, ESD, environmental, and site-safety requirements.

  Required Qualifications

· Associate degree, technical certificate, military electronics training, or equivalent practical experience in electronics, electrical technology, mechatronics, industrial controls, or a related field.

· Two or more years of hands-on experience in electronics troubleshooting, repair, test, electronics manufacturing, or technical service.

· Demonstrated ability to diagnose PCB assemblies, microcontroller-based products, embedded systems, and electronic control equipment.

· Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, technical procedures, and bills of materials.

· Proficiency in component-level soldering and rework of SMT/SMD and through-hole components.

· Working knowledge of Ethernet, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, and common device-communication concepts.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus the ability to learn service, inventory, and quality systems.

· Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and work effectively with customers and multicultural, cross-functional teams.

· Valid driver license and ability to travel to customer and field locations as business needs require.

· Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds and perform work that requires standing, bending, using hand tools, and handling small electronic components.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with industrial automation, motor controls, motion-control systems, actuators, drives, or solar tracking equipment.

· Experience with renewable-energy systems, photovoltaic plants, field commissioning, or corrective maintenance.

· Familiarity with RS-232, RS-485, Modbus RTU/TCP, ZigBee, CAN bus, or similar industrial communication protocols.

· Experience loading firmware, configuring embedded products, or using microcontroller programming and diagnostic tools.
