Job Description

Iona University seeks an SFS Representative who will, under the direction of the Associate Director of Student Financial Services:

  • Greet and assist students, parents, and visitors to the SFS office, addressing inquiries related to registration, billing, payments, and Financial Aid. Provide front-line support while assisting the SFS team with day-to-day operations.
  • Process cash/check payments and accurately post them to student accounts. This involves determining the amount owed by first analyzing the student account.
  • Identifies payment types, including external scholarships, and collaborates with Financial Aid Counselors to ensure proper awarding and posting.
  • Performs daily reconciliation to ensure all payments are accurately recorded.
  • Respond to general student account and financial aid inquiries by retrieving information from various government and other financial institution websites. Help students navigate various websites as they apply for loans and grants, sign up for payment plans or complete entrance or exit interviews etc. Counsel students on account balances and payment options.
  • Address flow of students to the appropriate SFS personnel.
  • Respond to call center referrals/logs, as assigned.
  • Manage the SFS mailbox and respond to emails daily.
  • Maintain the online appointment system.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and order when needed.
  • Handle all invoices/check requests and load them to AvidXchange system for payment.
  • Assist with outreach projects, mailings, office filing and special projects.
  • Participate in recruitment and retention functions (new student orientations, registration nights, accepted student days, open house, move-in day etc.) This includes weekend and evening events.

Required Experience

  • Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • One to two years' customer service experience, preferably in a higher education environment
  • Friendly and helpful attitude
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of students and parents
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with numbers and numerical data
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
