Shadowing/Observation introduces an observer to specific healthcare career(s) through the supervised observation of a healthcare provider. The goal is to assist the observer with making a healthcare career choice.
Shadowing/Observation introduces an observer to specific healthcare career(s) through the supervised observation of a healthcare provider maximum 40 hours within 30 days. The goal is to assist the observer with making a healthcare career choice.
The observation experience is appropriate for:
- Individuals 16 or older (18 or older if shadowing request is for ICU, Emergency Department or the Operating Room)
- Individuals who are exploring healthcare careers
- Short term experiences (maximum of 40 hours, most shadows are 8-10 hours in total)
- Individuals applying for healthcare programs that are required to have shadow hours in order to apply for a program (this includes pre-med students)
Requirements: - 2 MMR Immunizations OR a positive MMR titer
- A PPD current within the last 12 months
- Written documentation of chicken pox OR immune varicella titer OR documentation of 2 varicella vaccines
- Flu shot for current year (if shadowing/observing October-March)
