GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB (Summary) Provides effective and accurate survey control to the shaft by operating plumb bobs, hanging steel tapes, survey instruments and auxiliary equipment.Prepares detailed construction component installation procedures, development and construction layouts for use in the shaft. These are in compliance with set standards, under the direction of a Shaft Engineer and/or others. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required. KEY RESPONSIBILITESProvide necessary survey control, steady brackets, elevation tape brackets under the direction of the shaft engineer, line and grade for stations etc. and locates concrete forms and shaft furniture to required specification. Frames and installs guides and brackets.Work with Miners and Operation personnel to accurately calculate construction materials and provide results to Shaft Engineer or Technical Services Manager.Work with Shaft Engineer to plot results on plans and sections; review project drawing to determine accuracy and development goals. Prepares necessary construction and development layouts.Creates, compiles and enters data into official log books.Inspects quality of materials with emphasis on steel match marks and quality of fabrication and concrete.Performs torque tests.Organizes cap boxes and Magazine log books specific to the requirements of each shift. ENVIRONMENTFollows operating procedures in his area to conform to environmental standards OPERATIONSProvides data to the Shaft Engineer or Technical Services Manager to generate reports of shaft advance and coordinates supplies and quality control of shaft sinking supplies. HEALTH AND SAFETYWorks in a safe manner and is especially conscious of men working below. Is knowledgeable of all applicable workplace procedures, the five-point safety system and a worker's responsibility under the Occupational Health and Safety ActFully supports and actively participates in the Project safety program.Ensures personal protective equipment is used as required and that the workers are made aware of the hazards associated with failure to use equipment properly. EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENTEstablishes a rapport with the Manager, and in conjunction with the Manager, develops an action plan to provide relevant personal and professional development goals.Works with Manager to set ups a professional and personal development program for the Shaft Technicians COMPUTER APPLICATIONS Mining Engineering software as needed per project TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, MACHINERY, ETC. Vary per project QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATIONTechnical Degree or University Degree in Mining Engineering or Equivalent Experience CERTIFICATE(S), LICENSE(S), REGISTRATION(S)Valid Drivers Certificate EXPERIENCE1-2 years Mining Engineering or Mining experience PHYSICAL DEMANDSModerate WORK ENVIRONMENT20% office, 80% mine operations PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENTCompany Approved Cementation is an Equal Opportunity Employer
