Summary:
The Elementary Kindergarten Spanish Immersion Teacher teaches the grade level curriculum, including literacy skills, math, science, social studies, and SEL. Our teachers create friendly learning environments where students are engaged and develop a love for learning. Our teachers establish strong, positive relationships with students, families and with colleagues. They participate in grade level teams within their own school building and on district-level teams. This is a shared time teaching position and will be teaching Kindergarten at Zeeland Christian School.
Responsibilities:
- Teach district approved curriculum in engaging ways, such as group discussion, dramatic play acting, and field trips to stimulate students' interest in and broaden understanding of their physical and social environment.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Communicate regularly with parents by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
- Identify student needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
Qualifications:
- Current Michigan teaching certificate with Elementary endorsement is required, Early Childhood endorsement is preferred.
- Must be fluent in Spanish-both written and verbal.
- Ability to effectively write emails and other family communication.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from families and staff.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Foster cooperative social behavior through games and group projects to assist children in forming strong, positive relationships with other children and adults.
- Discuss students' strengths, progress, and concerns with parents.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
