Summary:
Our teachers create friendly learning environments where students are engaged and develop a love for learning. Our teachers establish strong, positive relationships with students, families and with colleagues. They participate in grade level teams within our school building and on district-level teams. This is a shared time teaching position and will be teaching Physical Education to grades 1-5 at Zeeland Christian School.
Responsibilities:
- Plan physical education program to promote development of student's physical attributes and social skills.
- Teach individual and team sports to students, utilizing knowledge of sports techniques and of physical capabilities of students.
- Organize, lead, instruct and referee indoor and outdoor games such as volleyball, baseball, and basketball.
- Instruct individuals or groups in beginning or advanced calisthenics or corrective exercises, determining type and level of difficulty needed.
- Demonstrate and teach use of training apparatus such as weights.
- Confer with students, parents and appropriate staff to resolve student problem.
- Select, store, order, issue and inventory equipment, materials and supplies used in the physical education program.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilites.
- Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
Qualifications:
- Current Michigan teacher certification with Physical Education or Elementary endorsement is required.
- Ability to effectively write emails and other family communication.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from families and staff.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Foster cooperative social behavior through games and group projects to assist children in forming strong, positive relationships with other children and adults.
- Discuss students' strengths, progress, and concerns with parents.
- Ability to perform other duties with awareness of all district requirement and Board of Education policies.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.

Will be working 4 days a week.
