SharePoint Information Architecture & Governance Consultant

Location: Remote

Pay rate: $125K/year

ANDERSEN is seeking an experienced SharePoint Information Architecture & Governance Consultant for their Enterprise Client to help assess, redesign, and modernize its SharePoint environment following organizational growth and integration with its parent company.

This role will work with senior staff members in IT, Sales, Marketing and Delivery to support the analysis of our current SharePoint landscape, gather business requirements, and help design a future-state information architecture that supports collaboration, compliance, security, and AI readiness.

The ideal candidate combines deep SharePoint and M365 expertise with strong business consulting skills and understands how content governance impacts Microsoft 365 Copilot and other AI technologies.

Responsibilities

• Assess the current SharePoint environment, including site structures, permissions, content organization, and governance practices.
• Facilitate stakeholder interviews and workshops to gather business and compliance requirements.
• Design a future-state SharePoint architecture, including site hierarchy, taxonomy, metadata, and naming standards.
• Develop recommendations for data governance, content lifecycle management, and ongoing ownership processes.
• Define approaches for managing sensitive information, PII, compliance, and document retention requirements.
• Design secure collaboration models for employees, contractors, partners, and external stakeholders.
• Advise on SharePoint governance across multiple business units, tenants, and domains.
• Evaluate SharePoint readiness for Microsoft 365 Copilot and recommend improvements to support secure AI adoption.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of SharePoint Online consulting, architecture, or governance experience.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Teams, Entra ID, and Microsoft Purview.
• Experience designing enterprise information architecture, taxonomy, metadata, and governance frameworks.
• Familiarity with external sharing, cross-tenant collaboration, and permission management.
• Understanding of data governance, PII protection, records management, and compliance best practices.
• Experience advising organizations on Microsoft 365 Copilot, content governance, and AI readiness.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

Ideal Candidate

The successful consultant understands both the capabilities and limitations of SharePoint and can translate business requirements into practical governance and architecture recommendations. Experience supporting organizations with complex organizational structures, acquisitions, external stakeholders and multi-tenant environments, or regulated content is highly desirable.
