Job Title: Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager

Job Description

The Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager leads and oversees safety, health, environmental, process safety, and security programs across all U.S. operations. This role promotes and drives compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies, while building a proactive safety culture. The position is responsible for occupational health and safety, process safety management, environmental compliance, security management, emergency preparedness, and risk mitigation across manufacturing facilities, warehouses, laboratories, and office locations.

  • Lead Safety, Health, Environment (SHE) and Process Safety programs across U.S. manufacturing, warehouse, laboratory, and office locations
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company SHE regulations and policies.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs that promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead SHE incident investigations, root cause analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with site leadership to integrate safety and environmental best practices into daily operations.
  • Support Management of Change, work permit systems, and capital project reviews to ensure SHE compliance.
  • Monitor and report SHE performance metrics, leveraging data to drive improvements.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and ensure site readiness.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders to maintain compliance and positive working relationships.
  • Provide coaching, training, and SHE support across multiple sites providing training for approximately 130 people

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in safety and involvement in chemical manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working with water-based and/or UV-based products in a manufacturing or process setting.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and the ability to interpret and apply OSHA regulations in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to coach site leaders, supervisors, and managers to take ownership of SHE performance and drive behavioral and cultural change.
  • Proven capability in conducting investigations using systems-based root cause analysis rather than blame-based approaches.
  • Hands-on experience with process safety management (PSM) and related process safety principles.
  • Experience developing, delivering, and leading safety training programs and safety topics.
  • Strong change management skills, including the ability to influence, drive change, and sustain improvements across multiple sites.
  • Effective presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex safety and environmental topics clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and locations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and leadership development experience in a safety or operational context.
  • Fluency in English, with the ability to interpret and communicate technical and regulatory information effectively.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Five years of experience in SHE management or as a SHE advisor in the Chemicals, Pharma, or Oil & Gas sectors preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • MSc in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry preferred.
  • Higher education certification in Health & Safety preferred.
  • Experience working in chemical manufacturing environments with exposure to water-based and UV-based products.
  • Comfort working with and interpreting OSHA regulations, guidance, and standards.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring leaders at various levels on safety ownership and performance.
  • Demonstrated personal drive, initiative, and readiness to lead change and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with Labor, Health, and Environmental Authorities and internal committees or workers councils.
  • Experience contributing to the definition and implementation of Best Available Techniques (BATs) and engineering standards.
  • Experience managing or contributing to SHE budgets and resource planning.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically on a quarterly or annual basis.
  • Experience overseeing or supporting SHE programs across multiple sites and a global workforce.

Work Environment

The role is primarily based at a manufacturing site in Wooddale, where the SHE Manager will spend most of their time. The role supports additional U.S. locations, providing remote training and guidance, with periodic travel to these sites. The environment includes chemical manufacturing operations, including processes involving water-based and UV-based products, as well as warehouse, laboratory, and office settings. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
