About the role
The Stainless Steel Shear & Fabrication Operator is responsible for operating manual shearing equipment and other fabrication machinery to process stainless steel components according to engineering drawings and production requirements. This position requires strong blueprint-reading abilities, manufacturing math skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality parts while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual shearing equipment to cut stainless steel materials to specified dimensions and tolerances.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and manufacturing specifications.
Perform layout, measuring, and marking of stainless steel materials.
Operate fabrication equipment, including but not limited to:
Roll forming and plate rolling machines
Drill presses
Band saws and cold saws
Angle grinders
Deburring equipment
Other fabrication machinery as assigned
Verify dimensions and quality using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and gauges.
Complete fabrication operations accurately while meeting production schedules and quality standards.
Safely move and handle stainless steel materials and fabricated parts throughout the production process.
Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Report quality, safety, maintenance, or material concerns to supervisors promptly.
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or GED.
Manufacturing, metal fabrication, or sheet metal experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and shop work instructions.
Strong manufacturing math skills, including:
Fractions and decimals
Measurement conversions
Basic geometry
Accurate tape measure reading
Experience using common measuring and inspection tools.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate fabrication equipment safely.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
