    Purpose: The Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic (Contractor) is responsible for performing heavy maintenance and modifications on Dash 8 and King Air aircraft.Responsibilities:

    Examine and inspect aircraft components, including landing gear, hydraulic systems, and deicers to locate cracks, breaks, leaks, or other problemsConduct routine and special inspections as required by regulationsInspect completed work to certify that maintenance meets standards and that aircraft are ready for operationRead and interpret maintenance manuals and FAA/manufacturer publications and directives to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged componentsMaintain repair logs, documenting all preventive and corrective aircraft maintenanceModify aircraft structures, systems, or components, following drawings, schematics, charts, engineering orders, and technical publicationsReplace or repair worn, defective, or damaged components, using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipmentRead and interpret pilots' descriptions of problems to diagnose causesAssemble and install electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components and accessories, using hand or power toolsInventory and ordering supplies, parts, materials, and equipmentCheck for corrosion, distortion, and cracks in the fuselage, wings, and tailPerform scheduled and un-scheduled maintenance, minor and major airframe repairs working in a high-quality, efficient mannerPerform various complex modifications, structures repair, fabrication, plan, layout and structural disassembly/assembly of aircraft and aircraft componentsRemove, replace, and repair aircraft structure and components with use of special tooling utilizing applicable technical dataPerform sheet metal bends to guidelines and specificationsUse shop mathematics to determine curves, angles, pitch, etc.Work with various kinds of metal such as: honeycomb material, aluminum and aluminum alloys, titanium, stainless steel, etc.Utilize various glues, sealants, epoxy, pro-seal, and in addition to other chemicals/consumables as required per applicable technical dataRead and interpret manufacturer Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, Repair Drawings, Structural Repair Manuals, Service Bulletins, technical directives, drawings, blueprints, and schematics etc. to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing damaged aircraft structure components.Properly complete required paperwork to comply with Federal Regulations and applicable company policy/proceduresMaintain a safe and clean work environment and report any unsafe conditionsMaintain communication with assigned Team Lead for task updates and status reportsMaintains responsibility for proper execution of parts tag instructions in accordance with Repair Station Quality Control ManualOther duties as assigned

    Skills/Qualifications:

    FAA Airframe & Powerplant license preferred5 years + recent hands-on experience performing heavy aircraft maintenance and modificationsRelevant trade school or military training equivalent for aircraft structures preferredExtensive knowledge of sheet metal principals, tools, and techniquesHigh school education required; some college preferredMust provide own tools, shadowed and etchedWork well in a team environmentExperience working in an AS9100 / ISO 9001 or DCMA environment preferredExperience working under FAA Part 145 or demonstrated knowledge preferredAbility to: lift, balance, and carry 50 lbs, crawl in and out of tight spaces, and predominantly work in enclosed hangars, occasionally in exterior weather conditions or elevated heights
