Sheet Metal Structural Fabricator

We specialize in providing technical recruitment and staffing services to industry and government in all areas of Engineering, Information Technology, and a broad range of other Technical disciplines.
In support of our client, a leading defense and aerospace engineering company, we are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Structural Fabricator for their Huntsville, AL facility. The right candidate will plan, layout, fabricate, assemble, install and repair sheet metal parts for a variety of aircraft and components. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity.
JOB DUTIES
- Possesses a high level of attention to detail and workmanship to fabricate and assemble components while holding key critical dimensional tolerances
- Proficient in set-up and operation of fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials
- Understands how to lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material applying knowledge of shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns of product/parts
- Trims, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smooths surfaces, using hand tools and portable power tools
- Reviews, reads and understands military technical manuals, technical orders, modification work orders, blueprints, sketches and product specifications to determine sequence, method of fabrication, assembly and installation.
- Complies with safety rules and procedures and uses protective equipment as required; remains alert for unsafe conditions
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 0-2 years required; shall have knowledge of simplistic tasks associated with the fabrication and assembly of electronic and mechanical hardware assemblies
- 3 years’ experience preferred; five years preferred in planning, layout and building to blueprints, or product specifications
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, welding, and assembly techniques
