Sheet Metal Foreman

Location: Metairie, LA
Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Project Site Based
Compensation: $72,000–$85,000 annually (flexible based on experience)
Additional Compensation: Discretionary annual bonus eligibility, $80/month phone allowance, optional $444/month vehicle allowance
Travel: 40–60% travel throughout Louisiana (travel expenses reimbursed)

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Foreman to oversee and support field installation activities on commercial construction projects throughout Louisiana. This role is responsible for leading field crews and subcontractors while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications, quality standards, and timelines.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership experience, journeyman-level commercial HVAC installation expertise, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings. This individual thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and can effectively manage field operations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

Field Supervision & Installation Oversight

  • Supervise and assist field personnel and subcontractors with installation activities on assigned project areas

  • Prepare and organize tools, equipment, and installation materials before crews arrive onsite

  • Provide installation direction through verbal instruction, field guidance, and detailed sketches as needed

  • Coordinate workflow to maintain productivity and minimize downtime

  • Expedite tools, materials, and equipment to support uninterrupted field operations

  • Ensure all work is completed according to project specifications, drawings, and quality standards

Project Coordination & Documentation

  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and mechanical drawings

  • Inspect and test installations to verify quality and compliance

  • Coordinate and schedule required code enforcement inspections

  • Complete daily markups of as-built drawings

  • Maintain accurate timekeeping and labor documentation

  • Communicate project progress, issues, and field updates to project leadership

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA compliance requirements

  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment across all project activities

  • Respond appropriately to incidents and safety concerns

  • Conduct regular site observations and reinforce safe work practices

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Minimum 3+ years of commercial construction experience in a Foreman role required

  • Journeyman-level commercial HVAC installation experience required

  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings

  • Experience leading crews and coordinating field operations

  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety practices

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to adapt in fast-paced environments

  • Ability to perform additional duties as project needs evolve

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Travel approximately 40–60% within Louisiana to project sites

  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps

  • Frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, and perform repetitive motions

  • Operate machinery, hand tools, and power tools

  • Lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to weather conditions, noise, and active construction sites
