    Sheet Metal Installer IV

    Position Overview

    As a Sheet Metal Installer IV, you'll serve as a master-level trade expert and field leader in sheet metal and dry-side HVAC systems, collaborating closely with General Foremen, Superintendents, and Project Managers to develop project-specific plans, resolve complex challenges proactively, and ensure flawless execution on commercial installations nationwide. Oversee advanced installations, crew performance, quality standards, safety compliance, and startup coordination while mentoring the team to deliver precise, efficient, and sustainable results.     Duties and Responsibilities

    • Work directly with General Foreman, Superintendent, and Project Manager to develop detailed task plans, labor/material requirements, and sequencing for sheet metal/HVAC projects.
    • Perform detailed takeoffs, field surveys, and condition assessments; report findings in writing and recommend solutions to prevent issues from becoming problems.
    • Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site functions including scheduling, material control, tool/equipment rentals, and daily crew assignments.
    • Oversee and direct crew work daily, delegating tasks based on capabilities, monitoring progress, and providing daily completion percentages and weekly reports (safety/toolbox, production, preconstruction, etc.).
    • Conduct jobsite inspections to ensure compliance with Pueblo Mechanical/Modigent standards, SMACNA specifications, and project requirements; participate in startups, coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, owners, and vendors as needed.
    • Assure all site personnel follow project procedures, safety protocols, company policies, and other requirements; document incidents, notify leadership, and implement corrective actions.
    • Train and mentor new and existing crew members on latest industry practices, techniques, safety standards, and specifications to maintain high performance and continuous improvement.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Yes – Provides direct leadership and supervision to sheet metal crews and subordinate installers; delegates tasks, coaches/mentors team members, monitors performance and safety compliance, and collaborates with other field leadership to resolve conflicts and ensure project alignment.

    Requirements/Qualifications

    • Experience: 5+ years (typically 8+ years preferred) in commercial sheet metal/HVAC installation and fabrication with mastery of dry-side applications, design, and complex systems; proven ability to lead crews and manage project execution.
    • Education: High school diploma or GED required; trade school, apprenticeship completion, journeyman license (or ability to obtain), or equivalent preferred.
    • Physical Demands: Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding/stairs, work in confined spaces or at heights, bend/kneel/crouch, reach overhead, and use hand/power tools for extended periods; frequent standing, walking, manual dexterity, and physical stamina required to handle high-stress, fast-paced environments.
    • Work Environment/Safety: Primarily field-based in commercial/industrial construction settings (indoor/outdoor, varying weather conditions, active job sites); exposure to noise, dust, heights, sharp materials, and mechanical hazards; must strictly adhere to OSHA regulations, conduct hazard identification, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, and steel-toed boots at all times—safety is our top priority and non-negotiable. This is a safety-sensitive position. Occasional regional travel within assigned market or on-call rotations may be required as business needs dictate.

    Required Skills

    • Mastery of sheet metal fabrication/installation, SMACNA standards, complex duct layout, system balancing, and equipment startup/checkouts.
    • Blueprint reading, field surveying, takeoff accuracy, and proactive problem-solving.
    • Crew leadership, task delegation, mentoring/training, performance monitoring.
    • Excellent written/verbal communication, reporting/documentation, multitasking, and follow-through with customers, management, and stakeholders.
    • Safety leadership (OSHA 30-hour preferred), decision-making under pressure, professionalism, and self-motivation.
