Tour of duty for this position is: Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Work schedule may require some occasionally mandatory overtime on holidays AND weekends.
The individual selected for this position will:
- Sheet metal mechanics at this level plan, lay out and develop templates to construct, assemble, and install irregular items and systems.
- Systems used by sheet metal mechanics at this level have various combinations of features including: cornices, canopies, transition elbows and oblique, truncated or frustum cones.
- Evaluates damage and/or wear to sheet metal components and systems. Disassembles, repairs, fabricates, assembles and installs sheet metal components.
- Uses various measuring tools to measure size, angles and patterns for repair, replacement and/or modification.
- Plans and lays out templates for construction and repair of components for heating, ventilation and air conditioning duct work, kitchen equipment and exhaust hoods and copper roof components.
- Uses welding, riveting, soldering, mechanical fasteners, forming machines and other tools of the trade to join and assemble components to prevent system leaks.
- Traces leaks and removes old roofing, replaces sheathing, boards, beams and joists, replaces cracked sections of roofing and installs roofing felt or other topping material.
- Uses hand and power tools and machines such as slip roll forming machines, box and pan brakes, crimpers, rotary machines with extra forming rolls and beading machines.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
