Basic Function

To fabricate and machine specialized tooling and components within an automotive prototype stamping environment.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Tooling & Processing: Responsible for operating and processing tooling and parts according to customer requirements and technical specifications.

• Quality Control: Qualify detail stampings to check fixtures and ensure dimensional accuracy.

• Metal Forming: Demonstrate a solid understanding of various metal forming processes and techniques.

• Machine Setup: Perform various types of industrial machine setups independently.

• Material Literacy: Read material technical data tags to accurately determine material types, grades, and gauges.

• Inspection: Understand check concepts and inspect finished parts according to customer specs and tolerances.

• Production Tracking: Accurately count and record daily production activity and material usage.

• Precision Measurement: Utilize calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and tape measures to perform accurate measurements per specific print and drawing tolerances.

• Communication: Identify and communicate machine maintenance or quality issues to management as they arise.

• Workflow Management: Interpret and follow supervisor reports, prioritizing tasks based on established start dates and project urgency.

• Professional Standards: Demonstrate core behavioral expectations including being communicative, motivated, responsible, dependable, and inquisitive.

Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of metal fabrication concepts, workflows, and industrial processes.

• Detail Oriented: Keen sense of attention to detail and high stress tolerance in a fast-paced environment.

• Equipment Operation: Ability to safely operate overhead cranes, torches, hand tools, and precision measurement instruments.

• Print Reading: Must be able to interpret complex industrial blueprints and technical drawings.

• Soft Skills: Must be honest, respectful, and possess effective written and verbal communication skills.

Education & Training

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Training: Completion of Vocational Training in Machining or Metal Fabrication preferred.

• Experience: Prior experience in industrial fabrication and machining, specifically within a prototype or tool & die setting.
