We are seeking Sheet Metal Technicians in Merritt Island, FL. This is a 6-month contract (with the potential for extension and/or conversion to perm).Key Responsibilities:• Configure new production work areas with the necessary tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and minimize any potential delays during the transition to high-rate manufacturing. • Operate precision-calibrated tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, etc.) to maintain high safety and quality standards. • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for safety and efficiency, enhancing overall productivity. • Drilling precision holes to tight tolerance.• Installing structural fasteners.• Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles to promote safety and operational efficiency. • Tasks involve preparing and testing payload systems and hardware by applying materials, conducting painting, sealing, composite layup, repairs, testing, and assisting with vehicle assembly and installation. Team Focus & Domain Expertise:The structures team is essential in enhancing the efficiency of large aerospace structures through advanced drilling and assembly techniques. As a technician on this team, you will be involved in precise drilling and assembly using both manual and power feed drills and specialize in large-scale structural assembly. Your expertise will include working with both metallic and composite materials, performing detailed processes like drilling, deburring, and assembling large components. Additionally, you will be responsible for surface preparation, fixture setup, and the alignment of structural components, ensuring they meet stringent specifications. Your role will involve maintaining fabrication methods and specifications to ensure high-quality construction using various materials and techniques. Minimum Qualifications:• 5+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, structures, and other related fields. • Familiarity with one or more of the following: Basic use of hand tools & Drills • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately. • Experience with precision calibration tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser trackers, and optical measuring instruments. • Ability to lift 50lbs and comfortable working at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces. • Expertise in various applications, including adhesives, sealants, and thermal blankets. • Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
