Support & Stability & Technology Training Reporting to the Sheet Metal Foreman, our Sheet Metal Mechanic is responsible for all aspects of Commercial HVAC sheet metal installation and associated materials according to specifications and codes.
Responsibilities: • Determine sequence of installations by reading plans and working drawings. • Perform field take-offs and jobsite material inventories. • Engage in the assembly and installation of sheet metal duct work for air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating units used in schools, commercial, and industrial buildings. • Working on elevated ground and maintaining balance when standing on restricted levels such as beams are also required skills. • You must be able to work effectively and precisely while also contributing to a solid safety culture.
Requirements: • Must be able to cut, miter, bevel, align, and bend metal. • Lays out, positions, align, and secure parts and assemblies. • Assemble components in flat, vertical, overhead, and restricted positions. • Operate safety equipment and utilize safe work habits. • Use straight edges, combination squares, calipers, levels, and rulers. • Examine work for defects, deficiencies, and straightness. • Set up and utilize power tools, hand tools, welders, lock forming machines, metal brakes, and various sheet metal fabrication machinery. • Lay out fabricated parts and components from details, blueprints, or diagrams. • Perform any duties assigned in addition to what is detailed above.
Work Schedule: This position is full-time with a minimum of 40 hours per week, with 48-50 hours likely. The normal 40-hour schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM until 3:30 PM. We are currently working an overtime schedule, which is Monday through Thursday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday, 6:30 AM until 3:00 PM.
