Own the make-ready. Command the run. Deliver the standard.

If you like the rhythm of a finely tuned press, this role puts you at the heart of production on a Heidelberg sheetfed offset line—where safety, precision, and consistency define success.

What will I work on?

Most of your day (~80%) will be focused on make-ready and operating the Heidelberg offset press to meet Snyder Pkg. quality standards. You’ll translate job layouts and project specifications into exact settings, bring plates on press, set and balance ink and water, and keep the run steady. At scheduled intervals, you’ll pull sheets for inspection and adjust as needed to maintain color, registration, and overall print quality.

What else is part of the job?

  • About 10% of your time is spent hanging/positioning plates and dialing in ink and fountain solution levels.
  • Roughly 5% involves computer data entry and completing production forms.
  • Another 5% is dedicated to cleaning, routine maintenance, and keeping the press in peak condition.

You’ll also maintain operating and maintenance records, submit maintenance requests, and pitch in on additional tasks requested by your supervisor and plant manager—all while following Snyder’s safety and quality protocols.

What skills do I need?

  • Proven ability to run offset printing equipment and a strong sense of color.
  • Shop math know-how: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Intermediate English proficiency (reading, writing, listening, speaking).
  • Basic computer comfort for data entry, typing, and printing.
  • Measurement confidence, including accurate ruler reading.

Who thrives here?

  • A mechanically minded problem-solver who acts quickly and safely.
  • Someone who spots defects immediately and cares about the details.
  • A press professional who understands printing with awareness of downstream die cutting and gluing.

What are the physical realities?

Expect manual loading and some climbing as you operate semi-automatic equipment. Work is active and varied, with both repetitive and intermittent tasks, and requires strength and good eyesight. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Where will I work?

In a general warehouse setting within a paperboard packaging facility that includes frequent reaching, bending, and lifting.
