Shelter Assistants (Full-time & Part-time)

Are you compassionate, dependable, and passionate about helping others? We are seeking Shelter Assistants to help provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and related crimes.

This position plays a vital role in supporting shelter residents, responding to crisis situations, and assisting with the daily operations of the shelter.

Responsibilities

Client Support & Crisis Response

• Welcome and orient new residents entering the shelter
• Provide emotional support and crisis intervention when needed
• Assist residents with immediate needs and access to shelter resources
• Answer crisis hotline calls and provide information, referrals, and safety planning
• Support residents with daily living needs, including access to food, personal care items, and communication resources

Shelter Operations

• Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping duties
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shelter environment
• Conduct shelter safety checks and assist with facility upkeep
• Help foster a respectful, trauma-informed atmosphere for all residents
