Position Summary

A BW Starbucks Shift Lead supports and guides barista teams in delivering excellent customer service, maintaining efficient store operations, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and security standards. This role oversees daily shift activities, including task delegation, cash handling, and inventory support, while fostering a positive and fast-paced store environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Operational Leadership: Open/close the store, delegate tasks, and oversee shift operations to ensure service and quality standards are met.
  • Customer Service: Actively resolve customer complaints and ensure a welcoming "Third Place" environment.
  • Team Development: Train new employees, coach employees, and provide feedback to the store manager
  • Cash and Inventory Management: Perform cash drops, count registers, and manage food/supply orders.
  • Safety and Standards: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and security guidelines.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Skills, Knowledge & Experience)

  • At least one (1) year of experience in retail or food service, demonstrating the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment; leadership experience is a plus.
  • At least six (6) months of experience in a position requiring frequent customer interaction.
  • At least six (6) months of experience delegating tasks to other employees and/or coordinating the work of two (2) or more employees.
  • Ability to meet store operating policies and standards related to customer service, cash handling, and store safety and security.
  • Ability to prepare and coach the preparation of food and beverages to standard recipes and customized specifications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and willingness to learn and build relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior successful completion of barista training and certification in beverage preparation standards and commercial beverage equipment operation strongly preferred, or ability to obtain certification within a specified training period.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a fast-paced retail environment requiring standing for extended periods and frequent walking, bending, twisting, and reaching. Must be able to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Work may involve exposure to confined spaces and high customer traffic. Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays.
