The Shift Lead at The Peach Cobbler Factory of Southern Pines supports the General Manager by supervising and coordinating the work of the team during assigned shifts. You’re responsible for helping deliver excellent guest service, maintaining product quality, keeping the store clean and safe, and ensuring operations run smoothly while the manager is off shift.

Duties

  • Lead the shift in the absence of the General Manager: opening or closing, supervising staff, ensuring all tasks are completed.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide on-the-job training to team members (“Cobbleristas”) in dessert prep, food safety, point-of-sale (POS), and service standards.
  • Ensure all Peach Cobbler Factory of Southern Pines recipes are followed correctly; desserts are prepared to brand quality and consistency.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and sanitation throughout the store (front of house, back of house, prep areas).
  • Assist with inventory management: check stock levels, inform manager of shortages, help with receiving supplies.
  • Handle customer interactions: welcome guests, address complaints or issues in a positive manner, ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Operate POS and cash handling procedures correctly; reconcile registers or drawers each shift.
  • Monitor employee punctuality, attendance, and ensure breaks and shift changes are handled properly.
  • Maintain safety and food safety compliance with all state/local regulations, and store policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in food service / retail environment. Experience in dessert shops, cafés, or quick-service restaurants is a plus.
  • ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Some previous leadership or supervisory experience (could be part-time or shift-supervisor type role).
  • Strong communication skills. Able to clearly give instructions and feedback to team members.
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible with schedule (able to work evenings, weekends, holidays).
  • Ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure during peak periods.
  • Basic math skills (for handling cash, making change) and comfort with POS systems.
  • Commitment to hygiene and food safety.
