Location Negaunee MICleveland-Cliffs - LS&I Railroad has an immediate opening for a Shift Manager of Maintenance responsible for coordinating daily activities in the maintenance department supervising hourly crews and improving overall efficiency by proper utilization of the resources and their components. Ensures the reliability of the tracks structures and signals through preventative maintenance ensuring work is performed and equipment is operated safely and efficiently while maintaining effective employee relations.Summary of ResponsibilitiesLeads and directs daily activities of the department. Supervises safe and efficient completion of work assignments while following established department plans regulations company rules policies and practices.Sets clear expectations provides coaching leadership direction and accountability for the department.Maintains accountability of the crew in meeting the department plans safety and quality objectives while maintaining the railroad system to meet all FRA requirements.Effectively coordinates and communicates maintenance activities with the planner and other departments and assists in developing continuous improvement plans.Monitors the operation models and enforces safety environmental quality and performance standards and performs regular audits.Leads employee training programs.Other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma with 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a related field or work environment.Must be available and flexible to work all shifts as business and support needs require.May be required to respond and assume command during emergencies or major incidents on a 247 basis.Preferred QualificationsBachelors Degree with 3-5 years of supervisory experience in railroad track and structure maintenance a related field or work environment.Railroad transportation maintenance experience preferred.Experience and knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration FRA regulations.Relocation assistance may be considered for highly qualified candidates from outside the local area.Cleveland-Cliffs is a leading North America-based steel producer with focus on value-added sheet products particularly for the automotive industry.
