Shift Supervisor

Bemana is searching for a Shift Supervisor in Rocky Mount, VA to join the team of a well-established leader in the pressure-treated lumber and building products industry, supplying residential, commercial, and industrial markets nationwide.

The Shift Production & Distribution Supervisor is responsible for leading plant operations during an assigned shift, with a primary focus on production performance, employee safety, product quality, and efficient distribution and shipping activities. This position supervises hourly production employees, coordinates daily workflow, ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and maintains a safe, productive, and organized work environment.

Position Offers

• Salary between $60,000- $70,000. If your target pay is higher, we still encourage you to apply—we could request adjustments based on experience and market conditions.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate production, distribution, warehousing, and shipping activities for the assigned shift in accordance with company policies, procedures, and direction from the Plant Manager.
• Lead and supervise hourly production employees, providing clear direction and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to established standards.
• Assign and schedule employees, coordinate daily staffing needs, and adjust workflow to meet production and operational demands.
• Monitor production performance, productivity, and workflow to ensure shift objectives and operational goals are achieved.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure employees follow all safety policies, procedures, and required practices.
• Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Conduct or support employee training, performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Address employee concerns and complaints professionally while maintaining positive employee relations and a productive work environment.
• Identify and address operational issues, safety concerns, and workflow inefficiencies, escalating significant issues to the Plant Manager as appropriate.
• Ensure company policies, employment practices, and operating procedures are consistently followed.
• Communicate shift activity, production results, staffing issues, safety concerns, and other operational matters to plant leadership.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve safety, productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing, production, distribution, warehouse, or industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of production, warehousing, distribution, and shipping operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and hold hourly employees accountable for performance and safety.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices and OSHA requirements; familiarity with EPA regulations is preferred.
