Position purpose:   Works under the Store Manager, providing supervisory support to the store and staff during the designated shift.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks: 

• Perform all duties of a Cashier; 

• Contribute to meeting all budgeted figures in the following categories:  sales, gross profit, labor, supplies, and cash discrepancies;

• Enforce  a professional sales and service culture;

• Maintain consistent merchandising and housekeeping standards, and purchasing the appropriate assortment of merchandise;

• Manage the business efficiently and professionally;

• Communicate with all levels of the organization in a professional manner; and

• Enforce and adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.

The responsibilities and duties are not limited to those mentioned above.

HEALTH INSURANCE - Regular full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our Medical, Dental and Vision plans the first of the month following 60-days of employment in full-time status.  We also offer various supplemental insurance programs to meet your specific needs.  

PTO

Regular, full-time, non-exempt employees will accrue PTO based on the following length of service criteria:

Active service of 90 days to 1 year:  .01925 hours of PTO accrued per every regular hour paid (An employee who is scheduled to and does work 40 hours per week will normally accrue five (5) working days or 40 hours of PTO per year).  Maximum accrual 60 hours.

1 to 2 years of service:  .0269 hours of PTO accrued per every regular hour paid (An employee who is scheduled to and does work 40 hours per week will normally accrue seven (7) working days or 56 hours of PTO per year).  Maximum accrual 84 hours.

2 to 5 years of service:  .0385 hours of PTO accrued per every regular hour paid (An employee who is scheduled to and does work 40 hours per week will normally accrue ten (10) working days or 80 hours of PTO per year).  Maximum accrual 120 hours.

5 to 10 years of service: .0462 hours of PTO accrued per every regular hour paid (An employee who is scheduled to and does work 40 hours per week will normally accrue twelve (12) working days or 96 hours of PTO per year).   Maximum accrual 144 hours.

10+ years of service:  .0577 hours of PTO accrued per every regular hour paid (An employee who is scheduled to and does work 40 hours per week will normally accrue fifteen (15) working days or 120 hours of PTO per year).  Maximum accrual 180 hours.

PART-TIME EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

PAID SICK LEAVE (PSL) - Part-time and Seasonal employees begin accruing PSL at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked.  Employees cannot use PSL until after their 90 days of employment.  Part-time employees may use up to 24 hours PSL per year, and cannot accrue more than 48 hours at any given time.

EMPLOYEE IDENTIFICATION CARD - Employees are eligible for the employee discount after working 30 days. The card may be used by employees only for a 20% discount on most purchases.  Alcoholic beverages, sale items and fuel are not eligible for discount.  Discount does not apply at Casa de Chevron, Casa de Diesel, Casa de Burrito, Casa de Restaurant or RV Park & Inn.  Employee ID Card must be presented at the time of purchase.

TRAIN & CAROUSEL - Free admission for employees and immediate family.  If you are not in uniform, please present your Employee ID card at Casa de Sweets for admission.  

AUTOMATIC DEPOSIT OF PAY CHECK - Most banks offer free checking accounts with automatic deposit.  You may allocate your deposit into multiple accounts.

TICKETS AT WORK - Sign up for this free membership to obtain discount rates on theme parks, sporting events, shows, movie tickets, hotels and much more.

AFLAC & COLONIAL LIFE SUPPLEMENTAL PLANS - Aflac & Colonial offer voluntary supplemental insurance plans for you and your dependents.  Rates vary by age and plans.  

AD&D – All employees can register for a $10,000 AD&D policy.  

WELLCARD SAVINGS – This program is available to all employee throughs Colonial Life.  You can health and wellness related items at discounted rates.  The card also offers discounts for theme parks, hotels, car rentals etc.  

LAW ASSURE – This program is available through Colonial Life for all employees.  You can get legal assistance at no cost for up to one year.  You can get help writing wills and trusts, power of attorney documents, preparing health care directives, writing consumer complaints, and property leases.  

KOFE (Knowledge of Financial Education) – This program allows employees to receive unlimited financial coaching, online tools and webinars all related to finances.  You can get help with personal finances, budgets, savings, debt and accessing your credit reports.

Qualifications:

Qualifications: (minimum educational and experience qualifications, required proficiencies with specialized knowledge, required certifications, etc.) 

• Prior supervisory experience in the retail industry 

• Able to have basic math skills

• Able to follow verbal and written instructions

• Able to independently evaluate current conditions against standard and perform tasks necessary to bring areas to standard.  

Special Position Requirements:  (Any hazard, risk, security issue or related special conditions which apply to the position, i.e. chemicals used, equipment used, cash handling, etc.)

• Cash handling is required.  Cash discrepancies must not exceed +/- $5.00 per day 

• Some exposure to cleaning products, (bleach, window cleaners, wax, wax stripper, floor cleaners etc), paint, and other chemicals is required

• Must obtain California Food Handlers Certificate within 30 days of employment
