    Schedule: Full-Time | Contract | 40 hours per week (Overtime as required)
    About the Role
    HII is seeking an experienced Ship Superintendent to support shipyard operations in Hampton Roads, VA. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production activities aboard one or more vessels, managing trade crews, coordinating with engineering and planning teams, and ensuring work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
    Key Responsibilities
    • Supervise and coordinate trade crews (welders, pipefitters, electricians, etc.) across assigned shipboard work packages.
    • Monitor daily production progress against schedules and take corrective action as needed.
    • Interface with ship's force, government representatives, and engineering staff.
    • Ensure all work complies with applicable specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
    • Conduct or oversee safety briefings and enforce shipyard safety requirements.
    • Identify and resolve technical issues, schedule conflicts, and material shortages.
    • Prepare and submit daily production reports and status updates.
    • Support availability planning and workforce scheduling.
    Requirements
    • Minimum of 7 years of shipyard experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
    • Strong knowledge of multiple trade disciplines (welding, pipefitting, electrical, etc.).
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and shipyard work specifications.
    • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.
    • Must be willing to undergo background check and drug screening.
    • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and extended schedules as required.
    • Clean driving record required.
    Work Environment
    • Shipyard and industrial settings
    • Exposure to noise, heat, cold, confined spaces, and marine/industrial hazards
    • PPE required at all times
