Overview:

This position reports to the Virginia/Columbia Nuclear Ship Manager and is the Nuclear Ship’s Management representative for nuclear new construction work. The successful candidate will manage the deckplate ready-for-test program in support of the nuclear test organization and Groton Operations. This is a great opportunity to participate in the entire nuclear build cycle to support whole ship construction.

 

Primary responsibility is for the daily management and coordination of all nuclear work supporting Reactor Plant Systems. The Ship Superintendent is the leader for logistics, managing resources, and establishing priorities for the safety, efficiency, and quality of new construction activities across the nuclear waterfront and facilities. In this role, the Ship Superintendent is individually responsible for the satisfactory completion of trade work and test readiness in support of new construction major milestones and key events from initial RPM assembly to ship delivery.

 

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Coordinating tasks - from routine to complex - involving multiple personnel and organizations.
  2. Interfacing with all trades, Reactor Services, Nuclear Test Engineering and Operations, Quality, Waterfront Engineering, Ship’s Force, RPCO, and NRRO
  3. Administration of documents associated with nuclear work and ready for test, such as TIRs, Ripouts, ERs, NCRs, and Work Orders
  4. Leading High-Risk Activities for major work evolutions
  5. Leading process improvement initiatives

The successful candidate should have strong written and verbal skills and must be able to embody the company’s Commitment to Excellence across assigned projects. The candidate should be able to lead by example, foster teamwork, and hold themselves and others accountable for the success of the programs.

 

The individual is expected to support work during off-shift hours and weekends as business needs dictate.

 

The applicant must be medically able and willing to qualify as a Radiation “R” Worker to obtain and maintain dosimetry.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 4+ years of EB experience in manufacturing/operations in a field of project management, construction, military, planning, construction engineering field shipyard trade - OR - 5+ years of outside experience in manufacturing/operations in a field of project management, construction, military, planning, construction engineering field or shipyard trade 
  • 2+ years of Electric Boat supervisory experience or Naval Nuclear PP supervisory experience
  • Previous Nuclear Trade and/or Modular Construction experience
  • Must hold Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Pipefitting, Shipfitting, Machinist, Electrical or Welding experience
  • Operations Supervisor experience
  • Proficient with EWP, 7G, 3G, and PCM
