Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine specifications and layout.
- Cut, shape, and assemble metal components for ship structures.
- Install and align structural components, including frames, bulkheads, and decks.
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed to ensure quality and durability.
- Inspect completed work to verify adherence to specifications and safety standards.
- Collaborate with other trades and team members to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in shipfitting or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Shipfitter or in a similar role within the maritime industry.
- Strong knowledge of shipbuilding techniques, materials, and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
