Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform all required duties to receive, store, ship and issue a wide variety of manufacturing and other materials, parts and supplies following established methods and procedures: maintain simple records as directed.
Receive incoming raw, semi-finished and finished materials, parts and supplies from carriers. Check items for apparent damages and compliance with packing and/or shipping lists as to count, weight, type and other pertinent specifications. Sign for correct shipment; refer shortages, damages and other unusual matters to superior for instructions or action. Match packing and shipping lists and documents with file copy(ies) of Purchase Order.
Work from written and/or verbal orders or instructions to locate and accumulate required type and quantities of wire and/or cable to fill customer orders or other authorizations. Rewind finished cables and wires for order filling; wind from single reel to multiple reels to make up specified lengths as directed.
Wrap, pack, palletize, strap or otherwise prepare and protect reels for shipment following established procedures or specific instructions issued by customer and /company. Obtain required stencils, apply specified markings and identifications to reels, packing or other area; attach tags, labels and other items, and perform other duties required to properly protect and prepare material for shipment.
Wrap and pre-pack standard wires and cables following established practices and methods. Store standard tocks in designated locations.
Move, or direct the movement of materials and items to inspection or proper using departments or storage areas; operate fork lift truck and use other material handling aids as necessary to lift, transport and stack materials, load and unload carriers.
Work from approved requisitions or other authorization to locate and issue materials and other supplies and items from storage areas; transport to using area as necessary.
Detect and report damaged materials or items, faulty operation and unusual conditions to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
Accumulate returnable wire reels and other items for return to proper vendor; prepare necessary paper work and documents, contact approved carriers for pickup. Prepare paper work and documents for return of rejected raw materials; contact carriers. Maintain related records and routine reports.
Follow environmental, health and safety regulations.
