Job Responsibilities
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items outgoing or incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, packing slips, address labels and other records.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Routes incoming items to correct departments.
- Packages items in appropriate containers. Affixes labels and shipping instructions onto containers.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Operates equipment to move, convey, or hoist shipments between shipping/receiving area and storage or work areas.
- Coordinates with carriers to schedule pick-ups and deliveries.
- Ensures timely dispatch of all outgoing shipments.
- Follows all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Reports any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent education and experience.
Experience Requirements
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or a warehouse environment preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving procedures and equipment is a plus.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Some physical demand; often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
- Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
- Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
- Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
- May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection is required to be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
