Job Summary:
- We are seeking a hands-on Shipping & Receiving Lead to oversee daily dock operations and ensure the efficient flow of inbound and outbound products. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate inventory movement, coordinating shipments, and supporting overall warehouse and production operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and is comfortable working in cold storage conditions.
Job Duties:
- Manage day-to-day shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading trucks and verifying incoming materials against bills of lading and supporting documentation
- Prepare, review, and maintain all required shipping and receiving paperwork with a high level of accuracy
- Coordinate dock schedules and traffic to ensure timely shipments and minimize delays
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to support material movement and staging
- Ensure proper inventory rotation (FIFO) and adherence to food safety and quality standards
- Enter shipment and inventory data into internal systems; communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners via phone and email
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, inventory, and quality teams to align priorities and workflow
- Monitor compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures
- Drive efficiency and organization within the shipping department, identifying opportunities for improvement
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to shipments, inventory, or documentation in a timely manner
- Support additional tasks and projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations
- Experience operating both stand-up and sit-down forklifts required
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Solid problem-solving abilities and sound decision-making skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Comfortable working with varying processes and adapting to changing operational needs
- High school diploma or equivalent required
