Sseeking an experienced Shipping & Receiving Specialist with a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in a precision manufacturing, aerospace, or defense environment. This is a fast-paced, detail-critical role. Minimal training will be provided - candidates are expected to arrive ready to perform at a high level from day one.
Certifications required
Valid forklift operator certification - documentation must be provided at time of interview. Candidate must be able to describe equipment operated (brand, capacity, sit-down vs. stand-up), facility type, and years of use.
Certified to ship hazardous goods including lithium-ion batteries (IATA/DOT). Candidate must explain what certification they hold, issuing body, date of last renewal, and what materials they have personally shipped.
Physical requirements
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs unassisted on a regular basis.
Experience packing boxes and wooden crates up to 150 lbs - candidate must describe what types of products, how weight was managed, and any equipment used.
Shipping software - expert proficiency required
FedEx Ship Manager and UPS WorldShip - candidate must describe which version/platform they used, what volume of daily shipments they processed, and the types of shipments handled (ground, overnight, freight, international).
AES (Automated Export System) / EEI filing experience is a strong plus - candidate should specify whether they filed directly or through a freight forwarder, and the commodity types involved.
Packing & materials handling
Expert-level operation of Sealed Air foam-in-place packing equipment (Instapak or equivalent). Candidate must describe the specific machine model used, the types of products packed, how they set up the machine, and how they verified foam quality and cure.
Demonstrated experience packing delicate or sensitive materials - candidate should describe product types, packaging methods, and how they protected against damage in transit.
Ability to measure, weigh, and accurately record dimensional and weight data on freight documents.
Ability to apply shipping labels clearly, correctly, and in compliance with carrier requirements.
Receiving & documentation
Verify inbound shipments against packing slips and vendor purchase orders - candidate must describe their matching process and how they handled discrepancies.
Match outbound shipments against customer purchase orders and packing slips prior to release.
Take and record photographs at specified stages of the packing/receiving process - candidate should describe what they photographed, why, and how photos were stored or labeled.
Scan and file documentation into correct system folders - candidate must identify the software or system used (ERP, DMS, shared drive, etc.).
Write clear, accurate explanations of loss or damage on freight claims and internal records.
Inventory & data entry
Perform daily inventory counts accurately - candidate must describe count methods, cycle count experience, and how discrepancies were resolved.
Make inventory adjustments in the warehouse management or ERP system - candidate must name the system used and describe their adjustment process.
Proficiency in basic Microsoft Excel functions (data entry, sorting, filtering, basic formulas). Candidate will be tested.
General computer proficiency for data entry across shipping, inventory, and documentation systems.
Communication & follow-through
Fluent written and spoken English required - must be able to write clear notes, follow written instructions, and document actions taken.
Must reliably record notes, receive verbal and written instructions, and execute accordingly without requiring repeated direction.
Strong attention to detail is non-negotiable in this role - errors in documentation, labeling, or counts directly impact customer satisfaction and compliance.
Forklift certified - valid certification required, must provide documentation
