Shipping & Receiving Clerk

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Shipping & Receiving Clerk to join a fast-paced food manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of inbound and outbound shipments, including receiving, inventory tracking, order preparation, and shipping.

The ideal candidate will have experience with warehouse operations, inventory management systems, and shipping procedures. This position requires working in and out of sub-zero freezer and cold-storage environments while maintaining food safety, quality, and inventory standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Receive raw ingredients and packaging materials and verify quantities against purchase orders.

• Inspect incoming trailers for proper temperature, cleanliness, and signs of pests before unloading.

• Verify lot numbers and expiration dates to maintain proper FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory rotation.

• Pick, pack, label, and prepare outgoing shipments according to order specifications.

• Safely operate electric pallet jacks, RF scanners, and other warehouse equipment.

• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.

• Maintain accurate inventory records using warehouse management and ERP systems.

• Perform stock checks, cycle counts, and inventory audits.

• Assist with identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies.

• Coordinate with team members and logistics personnel to maintain efficient shipping and receiving operations.

• Follow all applicable safety, food quality, and warehouse procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be comfortable working in and out of sub-zero freezers and cold-storage areas. Proper cold-weather gear is provided.

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

• Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, and FDA/USDA food storage regulations preferred.

• Strong knowledge of inventory management software, ERP systems, and shipping procedures.

• Experience operating electric pallet jacks, RF scanners, and other warehouse equipment.

• Basic math skills for calculating weights, quantities, and measurements.

• Strong computer and data-entry skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with team members and outside partners.
