The Shipping Associate is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all outbound Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) and Truckload (TL) shipments from the Brea warehouse. This position ensures customer orders are verified, properly packaged, documented, and shipped in accordance with company standards while meeting carrier pickup schedules and customer delivery requirements. The Shipping Associate utilizes Epicor P21, handheld RF scanners, and material handling equipment to maintain shipping accuracy, support on-time delivery, and provide exceptional customer service through effective communication with internal departments. Key Responsibilities:
Process all outbound Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) and Truckload (TL) shipments accurately and on schedule. Verify customer orders for product accuracy, quantities, and packaging prior to shipment. Inspect, wrap, label, and stage pallets to ensure they are secure and ready for transportation. Weigh and measure shipments to ensure accurate freight information and carrier compliance. Determine and verify the appropriate freight class for all LTL shipments. Schedule and book shipments with approved freight carriers while meeting customer requested ship dates and carrier cutoff times. Prepare, print, and review all shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing lists, shipping labels, and Epicor P21 documents. Process all shipping transactions accurately within Epicor P21. Coordinate daily with freight carriers to schedule pickups, resolve shipping issues, and monitor shipment status. Respond promptly to emails and phone calls regarding shipment status, transit times, order inquiries, and delivery issues. Communicate effectively with Customer Service, Sales, Warehouse Operations, and other ITP locations to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment. Operate handheld RF scanners to verify and, when required, pick customer orders accurately. Safely operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Maintain shipping records and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate. Keep the shipping department clean, organized, and compliant with all ITP safety standards and OSHA regulations. Identify and report shipping discrepancies, damaged freight, inventory issues, or process improvement opportunities to management. Support inventory counts, warehouse activities, and other operational functions as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager or Shipping Supervisor.
3-5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations. Experience with Epicor P21 or a similar ERP system. Knowledge of NMFC freight classifications and freight rating. Experience scheduling and coordinating LTL and Truckload (TL) shipments with multiple carriers. Experience using carrier portals such as FedEx Freight, Old Dominion, XPO, Estes, ABF, R+L Carriers, UPS, or similar. Forklift certification. Experience using handheld RF scanners and warehouse management systems. Knowledge of freight claims, shipment tracking, and transportation best practices. Bilingual (English/Spanish). Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify process improvements that increase shipping accuracy and efficiency.
REQUIRED:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience in warehouse shipping or logistics operations. Experience processing Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) and Truckload (TL) shipments. Working knowledge of freight documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing lists, and shipping labels. Experience using ERP systems, preferably Epicor P21. Experience using handheld RF scanners for order verification and picking. Forklift certification or the ability to become certified. Ability to safely operate forklifts, electric pallet Basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet carrier cutoff times in a fast-paced environment.
