Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable Shipping Associate to join a busy metal distribution and warehouse operation in Tulsa. This position is responsible for preparing, packaging, documenting, and shipping metal products while ensuring orders are accurate, properly protected, and ready for on-time delivery.
The ideal candidate has previous shipping, warehouse, or material-handling experience and is comfortable working with metal products such as sheets, bars, rods, and coils. Forklift experience is preferred, along with strong attention to detail and a commitment to safe material handling.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare metal products for shipment according to customer and order requirements
Package sheets, bars, rods, coils, and other metal materials safely and securely
Verify products, quantities, and specifications before shipment
Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and hoists when trained and authorized
Inspect products for damage or quality concerns before shipment
Ensure completed orders are properly packaged and protected for transportation
Prepare and verify packing lists, shipping labels, Bills of Lading, and related documentation
Record outgoing shipments accurately within company systems
Maintain accurate inventory and shipping records
Coordinate with Sales, Production, Logistics, and warehouse personnel to meet shipping deadlines
Assist with receiving and general warehouse responsibilities as needed
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area
Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements
Shipping & Logistics Responsibilities
Prepare Bills of Lading and packing documentation
Generate and verify shipping labels
Schedule pickups and deliveries with carriers
Coordinate LTL, freight, and local shipments
Track outgoing orders and shipment information
Communicate scheduling requirements with internal departments
Verify shipment accuracy before products leave the facility
Maintain organized shipping records and documentation
Material Handling Equipment
Qualified associates may operate:
Sit-down forklifts
Pallet jacks
Overhead cranes
Hoists
Other warehouse and material-handling equipment
Previous equipment experience is preferred, but all equipment must be operated according to company training and authorization requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Shipping Associate experience
Metal distribution or steel warehouse experience
Forklift operating experience
Overhead crane or hoist experience
Shipping and receiving experience
LTL and freight shipping experience
Bill of Lading preparation experience
Inventory control experience
Experience handling sheets, bars, rods, coils, or similar metal products
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
Ability to safely handle and move metal products and packaged materials
Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment when trained and authorized
Comfortable performing physically active warehouse and shipping work throughout the day
Ability to safely work around forklifts, cranes, hoists, and heavy materials while wearing required PPE
Work Environment
Industrial warehouse and metal distribution environment
Regular work around metal sheets, bars, rods, coils, and related products
Frequent interaction with forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, hoists, trucks, and shipping equipment
Fast-paced operation requiring accurate order preparation and on-time shipments
Team-oriented environment coordinating with Sales, Production, Logistics, Receiving, and warehouse personnel
Strong emphasis on safety, organization, product quality, and shipping accuracy
