Position Summary:


The Shipping B Operator handles accurate fulfillment, assembly, and preparation of outbound customer orders in a fast-paced warehouse. Operating in compliance with Local 169 union guidelines and OSHA standards, this role utilizes material-handling machinery to pull stock, secure skids with wrap, and safely transport heavy products. The operator maintains inventory accuracy, documents order logs, returns unused items, and performs routine preventive maintenance and cleanliness checks on assigned equipment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain order pickers safely.
  • Check machine/forklift water levels.
  • Maintain order pickers cleanliness and water levels.
  • Follow forklift OSHA standards.
  • Pass OSHA written tests.
  • Pass OSHA demonstration tests.
  • Hold valid driver's license.

Delivery & Customer Excellence

  • Pull assigned orders correctly.
  • Assemble products onto skids.
  • Label skidded products accurately.
  • Wrap skidded products securely.
  • Ship skidded products out.
  • Record pulled orders correctly.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Keep general shop clean.

Quality & Inventory Management

  • Put unused products back.
  • Return items to locations.
  • Count inventory products accurately.
  • Write down order records.

Business Partnership

  • Stay in good standing.
  • Maintain Local 169 membership

     

    Education and/or Experience:  

    Required

    • High school or GED required.
    • Must have valid driver’s license
    • Must have present skill and ability to operate an order picker (Certified OSHA Order Picker Operator (Written & Practical))
    • Lift up to 10 lbs, 2/3 of the time.
    • Lift up to 20 lbs, 1/3-2/3 of the time.
    • Lift up to 50 lbs 1/3 of the time.
    • Lift over 50 lbs up to 1/3 of the time.

    Preferred

    • 1-2 years of prior experience working in a high-volume warehouse, distribution center, or industrial manufacturing facility.
    • Proven track record of operating heavy material-handling machinery, specifically order pickers, cherry pickers, or reach trucks, within a fast-paced environment.
    • Familiarity with OSHA requirements and environmental regulations.
    • Effective communication and coordination skills

    Work Conditions:

    This position operates in both office and manufacturing environments.

    • Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment, forklifts, and warehouse traffic.
    • Exposure to varying temperatures and manufacturing conditions.
    • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear.
    • Moderate to high noise levels are common in production areas.
