WHO YOU ARE
The Shipping Clerk on 1st Shift is responsible for coordinating and processing outbound shipments, ensuring products are shipped accurately and on time. This role prepares, reviews, and maintains all required shipping documentation, verifies shipment details, and supports compliance with company policies and transportation regulations.
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
Our distribution center is located in Carlisle, PA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate, build, route, and dispatch outbound shipments while ensuring compliance with customer-specific requirements and delivery schedules.
Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external customers regarding order status, shipment requests, and transportation-related inquiries.
Monitor outbound shipment activity to ensure timely carrier pickups and proactively communicate shipment status updates to Customer Service and Sales teams.
Process and complete shipment billing activities, ensuring all transportation documentation is accurately scanned, filed, and maintained.
Manage trailer and driver check-in/check-out procedures, ensuring accurate records of arrivals and departures.
Schedule and coordinate carrier pickup appointments in alignment with customer requirements, carrier availability, and shipping deadlines.
Maintain accurate shipment, inventory, and transportation records within Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other operational software platforms.
Support the efficient flow of trailer and truck traffic within the facility to minimize congestion and maintain operational effectiveness.
Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Maintain an organized work area and ensure effective shift-to-shift communication to support operational continuity and performance.
Provide support to task desk operations, including generating packing lists, releasing work assignments, and completing related administrative tasks.
Develop, review, and update customer-specific standard operating procedures and best practice documentation.
Assist with additional logistics, transportation, other duties, special projects and warehouse operations as required to support business objectives.
Follow all company policies, procedures, and operational best practices to ensure compliance and maintain service excellence.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Able to read and comprehend instructions and write correspondence.
