Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable Shipping Clerk to join a manufacturing operation in Catoosa. This is a hands-on shipping and material-handling position responsible for preparing completed units for shipment, loading and unloading materials, operating forklifts and overhead cranes, and coordinating shipping documentation and loose components.
The ideal candidate has previous forklift or material-handling experience, excellent attendance, and strong organizational skills. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring consistent attention to detail, communication, and safe equipment operation.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 1 year of forklift and/or material-handling experience required
Previous shipping and receiving experience is a plus
Basic reading skills required
Strong verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated history of excellent attendance
Ability to safely perform physically demanding material-handling work
Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with the shipping team
Ability to complete required company forklift and overhead crane safety training
Strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare completed units for shipment
Wrap and secure units before loading
Secure piping and other components for safe transportation
Load completed units onto trucks using overhead cranes
Unload materials and units as required
Operate a forklift on a daily basis
Coordinate with the Shipping Coordinator regarding scheduled shipments
Identify loose components that must accompany completed units
Palletize, band, and wrap loose shipping items as required
Verify all required components are properly included before shipment
Review documentation to confirm parts and materials are accounted for
Communicate potential supply or shipping problems to supervision
Help minimize production or shipping delays by identifying concerns early
Maintain clean, organized, and safe shipping and staging areas
Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
Perform additional shipping and material-handling duties as assigned
Shipping Preparation Responsibilities
Before units leave the facility, the Shipping Clerk may be responsible for:
Wrapping completed units
Securing piping and components
Preparing loose materials for shipment
Palletizing loose components
Banding and wrapping pallets
Verifying all required parts are included
Coordinating documentation with the Shipping Coordinator
Preparing units for safe truck loading
Loading units using overhead cranes
Equipment Operation
Candidates will regularly work with or around:
Forklifts daily operation required
Overhead cranes
Trucks and trailers
Pallets and shipping materials
Banding and wrapping equipment
Material-handling equipment
Large manufactured units and components
Required equipment and safety training will be provided according to company procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
Shipping Clerk experience
Shipping and receiving experience
Industrial or manufacturing shipping experience
Forklift operating experience
Overhead crane experience
Experience loading large fabricated equipment or industrial units
Palletizing and banding experience
Shipping documentation experience
Material-handling experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, potentially for the majority of the shift
Frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and bending
Ability to exert moderate to heavy physical effort throughout the workday
Strong range of motion required
Ability to walk across both even and uneven surfaces
Ability to safely access all required areas of the plant and grounds
Ability to work in tight quarters when required
Ability to read instructions and measuring devices
Close vision, depth perception, attention to small details, and ability to adjust focus may be required
Ability to safely wear required PPE
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing and shipping environment
Work may be performed throughout the plant, shipping areas, and facility grounds
Exposure to hot and cold temperature extremes
Regular work around forklifts, overhead cranes, trucks, heavy equipment, and large manufactured units
Some responsibilities may require working in confined or tight areas
Safety-sensitive environment requiring consistent compliance with equipment and PPE procedures
MondayFriday day-shift schedule with weekend work as needed
