Job Summary

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating and executing all functions related to the shipment and receipt of goods. This includes preparing shipping documents, inspecting shipments, maintaining accurate records, ensuring proper labeling and packaging, and supporting warehouse operations. The role involves collaboration with internal departments, carriers, and customers to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company standards and procedures.

Essential Job Duties

•Check products for defects and accuracy.
•Handle incoming and outbound shipments and verify items physically.
•Create truck delivery routes using designated software.
•Manage outbound shipments to customers using designated software.
•Communicate with EMJ drivers and sales on a regular basis to coordinate deliveries.
•Coordinate receipt of incoming shipments and verify for accuracy.
•Verify serial and batch numbers against product records.
•Receive and inspect incoming shipments and verify accuracy.
•Report and replace defective items prior to shipment.
•Prepare invoices and delivery orders, and apply labels as needed.
•Record all transactions accurately in the company database.
•Ensure safe and timely loading of shipment vehicles.
•Coordinate storage space for incoming shipments.
•Determine consignment methods using knowledge of routes and shipping procedures.
•Arrange common carrier pickups and prepare shipping documents.

•Trace lost or missing shipments and maintain shipping documentation.

•Assemble or select appropriate containers for shipping.
•Authenticate and record shipment receipts alongside documentation.
•Route shipments to appropriate departments and maintain shipping records.
•Independent decision-making is required, particularly when handling customer-related matters.
•High concentration is necessary to avoid errors affecting department workflow.
•Accuracy is essential for documentation and shipment matching.
•Frequent interaction with supervisors, coworkers, and occasionally the general public is expected.

 

 

Required Skills:

Qualifications

•High School diploma/GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
•Basic computer and data entry skills.
•Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
•Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment (training provided).
•Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
