Primary Purpose and FunctionThe Shipping Clerk position picks, verifies, organizes, and prepares tire orders for shipment. The position uses order pickers and other authorized warehouse equipment, operates shipping equipment, stages completed orders, and loads tires into trailers while following established safety and order-processing procedures.Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Pick singles, doubles, transfers, UTG, and dealer orders accurately.
- Use order pickers to retrieve tires and complete assigned orders.
- Sort, verify, organize, and prepare tires and orders for shipment.
- Stack tires in the correct bins or designated staging locations.
- Remove chalk marks from tires before shipment.
- Operate the polypropylene strapping machine to secure orders for shipment.
- Load tires and completed orders into trailers.
- Move and store tires safely using authorized warehouse equipment.
- Perform general shipping and order-processing duties as assigned.
- Report order, quantity, labeling, or location discrepancies to the supervisor.
Skills & Physical Expectations
- Ability to read and follow order information and distinguish among singles, doubles, transfers, UTG, and dealer orders.
- Ability to check order accuracy and organize tires before shipment.
- Ability to safely operate order pickers, the polypropylene strapping machine, and other authorized warehouse equipment after training.
- Strong attention to detail when picking, sorting, staging, and loading orders.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, twist, and handle tires throughout the workday.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry tires weighing 35 to 50 pounds.
Safety Equipment / PPE Required
- Eye protection: provided by UTires.
- High-visibility vest: provided by UTires.
- Steel-toe footwear: required and must be provided by the employee.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Forklift and warehouse-equipment safety certification will be completed through UTires before the employee operates applicable equipment. Employees must wear required PPE and follow all shipping, loading, equipment, and warehouse safety procedures.
