Position Overview The Shipping Lead is a working leadership role responsible for coordinating daily shipping activities while actively contributing on the floor. You’ll provide direction, training, and support to the shipping team while ensuring accurate, timely deliveries and maintaining inventory integrity. This role reports directly to the Warehouse/Shipping Supervisor and plays a key part in establishing best practices in a new operation. What You’ll Do Leadership & Team Coordination - Lead the daily activities of the shipping team with clear direction and prioritization
- Assign and monitor tasks to ensure orders are shipped accurately and on schedule
- Conduct shift start-up meetings focused on safety, priorities, and daily goals
- Train, mentor, and support team members in shipping processes and systems
- Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on safety, quality, and accountability
Shipping Operations - Perform hands-on shipping duties including picking, packing, staging, loading, and processing shipments
- Coordinate outbound shipments with carriers, freight providers, and internal teams
- Verify shipping documentation (packing slips, bills of lading, and customer-specific requirements)
- Ensure all orders are packaged, labeled, and prepared according to standards
Accuracy, Systems & Continuous Improvement - Maintain accurate inventory transactions in ERP systems
- Conduct routine audits to ensure shipping accuracy and inventory integrity
- Monitor shipping schedules and proactively communicate delays or issues
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce errors
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory reconciliation as needed
Collaboration - Partner with Production, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Warehouse teams to meet operational goals
- Help drive KPI achievement through effective task management and team alignment
What You Bring - 3–5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, warehouse, or distribution
- Previous leadership or “lead hand” experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred
- Hands-on experience operating forklifts and material handling equipment
- Strong knowledge of shipping documentation, freight carriers, and transportation processes
- Experience with ERP systems, inventory software, and Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction
