Shipping & Receiving Clerk

Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or material; receiving, unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming merchandise or material.

Essential Functions

Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipmentPrepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading and shipping orders to route materialsRecord shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposesDeliver or route materials to departments, using work devices, such as hand-truck, forklift, or sorting binsHardware pack-outs for projects of varying sizePack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meterConfer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages and nonconformance to specificationsRequisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stockCompute amounts, such as space available, and shipping, storage, and demurrage charges, using calculator or price list.Process customer returns, vendor returns and RMAs to manufacturersOther relative duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/experienceForklift certification preferredAt least 6 months of relative experienceMust pass pre-employment background check and drug test

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Basic computer skills - experience with Outlook, Word and ExcelGood communication skillsAbility to accurately do arithmetic, read orders, write instructions and complete formsAbility to work closely and cordially with other staff associates

Physical DemandsMust be able to stand and walk for much of the day. Ability to lift 5-25 pounds frequently and ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Standing, reaching, walking. Frequent lifting required of items 50+ pounds.

Work EnvironmentWorker is subject to frequent heavy lifting and use of power tools. May be exposed to variable weather conditions. Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware.
