Shipping & Receiving Operator

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Job Summary

Acts within the role of fulfilling orders, including order entry, administration and shipping via computer or system.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Prepares orders for shipping, which consists of verifying identifying information and quantities, assembling boxes and packing items in boxes or assembling wooden crates for large merchandise and packing items in crates, enclosing correct paperwork for shipments.
• Cover for Receiving; Receives shipments, checks items received, and delivers items to correct person or department. Maintains storage of received material.
• Perform all SAP and KIS Shipping transactions, process shipments through online logistics broker, perform cycle counts, process international shipments, occasionally by preparing manual customs documents.
• Notifies supervisor when discrepancies occur such as partial shipments made or received.
• Handles return shipments.
• Performs other duties and assignments as directed by supervisor.
• Work occasional overtime as responsibilities dictate

Key Job Accountabilities

Commitment to working safely and understand all safety procedures. Ship/Receiving is responsible for following control plan, assuring product is processed according to proper shipping/receiving documentation and that the quantity and style are correct. Work to meet daily departmental production goals. Must be reliable and dependable. Communicate safety, quality, product issues with supervisor, team members and across shifts.

Education and Experience

High school graduate or GED.

• Requires excellent analytical and math skills.
• Requires basic computer skills in Microsoft Office programs
• Knowledge of packaging procedures and the ability to use power tools to build/modify shipping containers is required.
• Experience in dealing with Bills of Lading and other shipping documents would be beneficial.
• Ability to work with heavy parts, climb on/off forklift and stand continuously.
• Fork lift experience preferred

Psychical Demands

Environment with controlled temperatures and dust/mist collection systems. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive movements. Capable of walking, bending, stooping, and lifting/carrying up to 33 lbs. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating machinery and handling tools. Comfortable working in an industrial environment with exposure to noise.

Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including but not limited to: Safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes with metatarsal protection and anti-slip soles, Cut resistant gloves, when necessary, additional PPE as required.

Problem Solving

Pull orders according to the order selection procedure. Assignments and instructions communicated orally and carried out by standing guidelines. Routine problems solved by operator using learned knowledge and production processes. Recurring problems and major decisions receive supervisor attention.
